Meditation 101
Certain you can’t meditate? Simple scientific explanations, demonstrations, and stories will change your mind, literally, as you learn to create a meditation practice that’s just right for you.
Mindfulness Meditation is the practice of returning your attention to a point of focus, whether that is your breath, walking, a conversation, or something else, and letting go of judgement as it arises. It is observing thoughts as well as other things. It is not thinking.
Through the practice of meditation, you create a space between yourself and your thoughts, as well as the drama of your life as it unfolds. It is like being in a movie theater observing your life from a comfortable chair instead of being caught up in the drama.
The neuroscience of meditation allows you to access an understanding of how the practice of meditation works in your brain and body.

This Expressive Arts Wellness Workshop is all about creating a zen experience that you can take home and use often. Materials for the mini zen garden will be included. Practice mindfulness while moving sand and painting rocks for the zen garden during this workshop. You have to register and pay in advance to confirm your spot in this workshop.
